BOE Going Paperless - Sales and Use Taxpayers Transition To Electronic Filing
The Board of Equalization is going paperless. In its most assertive effort yet, the BOE will begin implementation of its Electronic Transition Plan (ETP). Under the plan, sales and use taxpayers will be transitioned from paper to electronic filing (e-filing) via the Internet. You may have already received a letter from the BOE notifying you that you will no longer receive paper returns.



Board of Equalization Expands Offer In Compromise Program

The State Board of Equalization's Offers in Compromise program will be expanded under Board sponsored legislation recently signed by the Governor, the BOE announced today. The BOE will be able to accept more offers in compromise beginning in January 2009 for certain tax or fee liabilities...

State Controller Announces Delay for Tax Refunds  

Due to the state's persistent cash and budget problems, the State Controller announced on Friday, January 16, 2009, that because of the state's cash shortfall he will have to delay refunds for 30 days starting February 1, 2009 for Personal Income Tax and Business Entity taxpayers. Refund payments will resume when the State Controller indicates there is enough cash available to make refund payments.
